Heritage Kandy Cooking Class is an authentic, hands-on traditional Sri Lankan cooking experience located in Kandy, Sri Lanka. You will learn to prepare a full traditional Sri Lankan meal from scratch. This includes a spice garden tour, grinding fresh spices, making authentic Sri Lankan curries (chicken, fish, and vegetable), preparing hoppers and string hoppers, cooking rice with accompaniments like sambol and pol roti, and making traditional desserts. You will take home all the recipes.

Absolutely! We cater to all dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free. Sri Lankan cuisine has a rich tradition of vegetable curries, lentil dishes (dhal), and coconut-based preparations. Just let us know your preferences when booking and we will customize the menu for you.

The full cooking experience lasts approximately 4 to 5 hours. This includes the spice garden tour (30 minutes), hands-on cooking (2.5 to 3 hours), and the communal dining experience where you enjoy the meal you have prepared (1 hour). We recommend arriving by 9:00 AM for the morning session.

The price includes everything: the spice garden tour, all fresh ingredients and cooking materials, hands-on cooking instruction, printed recipe cards to take home, the full meal you prepare, complimentary tea and water throughout the session, and a certificate of completion. No hidden costs.

No prior cooking experience is needed! Our classes are designed for everyone — from complete beginners to experienced home cooks. Our friendly instructors guide you through every step, making it a fun and relaxed learning experience for all skill levels.

We are located at 57, Augestawattha, Kandy, Sri Lanka — in the heart of the beautiful Kandy highlands. We are just a short tuk-tuk ride from Kandy city center and the Temple of the Tooth. We can arrange pickup from your hotel in Kandy upon request.

Yes, children are very welcome! We love hosting families. Children enjoy the spice garden tour and getting hands-on with cooking. For safety, children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult at all times near the cooking area. We offer special kid-friendly activities too.

Just bring yourself, comfortable clothing, and your appetite! We provide all ingredients, cooking equipment, and aprons. We recommend wearing closed-toe shoes. Do not forget your camera — the experience and the food make for wonderful photos and memories.
